Arbiter Application -
4NCL Easter Congress 2019
The 4NCL is organising its 1st
Easter Congress from Friday, 19th April to
Monday 22nd April at Holiday Inn Stevenage, St
George’s Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 1HS.
The 4NCL is seeking arbiters to work at this
event, in support of the Chief Arbiter, who is
yet to be appointed. The Congress will provide
players with an opportunity to achieve arbiter
norms as outlined below, or give established
arbiters an opportunity to increase their
current portfolio of events.
The arbiter will be required to:

Be able to communicate with players and the
rest of the team of arbiters in English

Expect to be on duty between 1400 until play
ends and pairings for Round 2 are published
(approximately 2330) on Friday, 19th April

Expect to be on duty between 0900 until play
ends and pairings are published
(approximately 1930) on Saturday, 20th April
and Sunday, 21st April

Expect to be on duty between 0900 until play
ends and equipment is packed away
(approximately 2000) on Monday, 22nd April

Hold any domestic arbiter qualification
(e.g. a minimum of Level 1 in England)

Have a FIDE Arbiters Licence – English
arbiters can contact Thomas Thorpe to arrange
this.

Bring a computer with them in order to use
Swiss-Manager or ChessBase as required.
The 4NCL will provide you with:

Accommodation (Bed & Breakfast
only), paid for by the 4NCL in advance, at the
hotel for 3 or 4 nights.

Travel expenses reimbursed at
30p/mile if driving, or the cost of a train paid
by the Organiser within one week of the end of
the Congress. Please note that applicants from
outside Great Britain will only be allowed to
claim travel expenses from the time they arrive
in Great Britain (e.g. when you arrive at a
London airport, or from London St. Pancras if
travelling by Eurostar).

A tournament allowance of
£225, paid by the Organiser within one week of
the end of the Congress.

Upon a satisfactory
performance, arbiter norms of the following
type:
Applications must be received by
12pm GMT on Monday, 4th February 2019.
A sub-committee of the 4NCL Board will then
contact all applicants within two weeks to
inform them whether or not they have been
appointed as an arbiter to this event. Please do
not assume you have been selected just by
filling in the application form below.
