Terms and Conditions

Canham Turner Conference Centre

The submission of an entry form and payment of the entry fee denotes acceptance that all decisions made by the Chief Arbiter during the tournament are final.

The 4NCL reserves the right to refuse any entry without explanation.

No player may win more than one prize. All place prize money will be shared equally between tied players.

The best performance prize will be awarded to the player with the best performance relative to rating (W-We) unless otherwise stated.

Players for whom it has not been possible to assign a rating may not win a performance prize. Prizes will be paid by direct bank transfer and/or entry fee refund in the week following the end of the event unless otherwise notified.

The 4NCL will ensure its advertised prize fund is realistic based on an expected number of entries. Should the number of entries fall significantly below this expectation, it may be necessary to reduce the prize fund. Where possible, any such decision will be notified to entrants beforehand.

There is an additional pay to play fee for players who are not Gold or Platinum ECF members of £16.00 (juniors £6.50). Entrants who are not under 18 years of age on Friday 25 September 2026 should pay the £16.00 adult pay to play fee.

Pairings in all sections will be according to FIDE Swiss pairing rules, using the Swiss Manager computer programme.

Players’ ECF standardplay ratings from the September 2026 list will be used for determining allocation to sections, tournament pairings, and best performance prizes (x5).

Brynmor Jones Library | University of Hull

Re-pairing will take place 30 minutes (U1500 and U1200 sections: 15 minutes) after the start of a round. Players will be defaulted 30 minutes (U1500 and U1200 sections: 15 minutes) after the scheduled start of a round.

Note: Re-paired games in the U1500 and U1200 sections will be rated as Rapid because of the reduced time control.

The submission of an entry form and payment of the entry fee denotes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

If entrants withdraw before the congress they will be entitled to a refund of their entry fee less a £5 administration charge.

The 4NCL Anti-Cheating Policy will apply in this event.

Prizes may be changed subject to numbers of entries.

The 4NCL reserves the right to transfer players between sections at any time.

All pairings will be made using FIDE Swiss pairing rules using Swiss Manager.

All games will be played using digital clocks.
