Arbiter Application -
4NCL International Congress
The 4NCL is organising its first
International Congress from Wednesday, 31st
October to Sunday, 4th November at Park Inn
Telford, Forgegate – Telford Centre, Telford,
TF3 4NA. The 4NCL is seeking arbiters currently
holding the FIDE Arbiter title to work at this
event, in support of the Chief Arbiter,
International Arbiter Alex Holowczak. The
Congress will provide arbiters with an
opportunity to achieve an International Arbiter
norm as outlined below.
The arbiter will be required to:

Be able to communicate with
players and the rest of the team of arbiters in
English.

Expect to be on duty between
1400 until play ends and pairings for Round 2
are published (approximately 2330) on Wednesday,
31st October.

Expect to be on duty between
0900 until play ends and pairings are published
(approximately 1930) on Thursday, 1st November,
Friday, 2nd November and Saturday, 3rd
November.

Expect to be on duty between
0900 until play ends and equipment is packed
away (approximately 2000) on Sunday, 4th
November.

Hold the FIDE Arbiter title.

Have a FIDE Arbiters Licence –
English arbiters can contact Thomas Thorpe to arrange
this.

Bring a computer with them in
order to use Swiss-Manager or ChessBase as
required.
The 4NCL will provide you with:

Accommodation (Bed & Breakfast
only), paid for by the 4NCL in advance, at the
hotel for 4 or 5 nights.

Travel expenses reimbursed at
30p/mile if driving, or the cost of a train paid
by the Organiser within one week of the end of
the Congress. Please note that applicants from
outside Great Britain will only be allowed to
claim travel expenses from the time they arrive
in Great Britain (e.g. when you arrive at a
London airport, or from London St. Pancras if
travelling by Eurostar).

A tournament allowance of
£285, paid by the Organiser within one week of
the end of the Congress.

Upon a satisfactory performance, an
International Arbiter norm
Please note that British
applicants will be given priority over
international applicants.
Applications must be received by
12pm BST on Monday, 2nd July.
A sub-committee of the 4NCL Board will then
contact all applicants within two weeks to
inform them whether or not they have been
appointed as an arbiter to this event. Please do
not assume you have been selected just by
filling in the application form.
